Giants Under Ground

Below is a link to a really cool website that tells about a gypsum mine that has free growing crystals up to 12m tall.

  When you look at the size of those things it makes me wonder, if they could talk what would they say? This crystals likely contain chemical records from thousands, if not millions of years back. They might provide insight into past ecological environments.
Of course when it was first discovered back in 1910 it had low oxygen levels, 100 % humidity, and temperatures high enough to literally cook a thief who broke in during the night thinking to steal some of the crystal (Talk about a mummy's curse) .
